Senior Cross Platform Producer

This role is classified as Level Four under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary of $99,377 - $109,889). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework. 

As a rostered shift worker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA. 

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Cross Platform Producer to join our team on full-time 12 month contract. This is an onsite role, working in our buzzing newsroom in Artarmon. 

This senior position plays a pivotal part in shaping SBS’s daily news output across multiple bulletins. You will lead key editorial functions, oversee breaking news coverage, and ensure our journalism reflects SBS’s Charter and commitment to diverse audiences. Working closely with other producers, editors, camera crews and design teams, you will drive high‑quality storytelling across TV and digital platforms while maintaining the highest editorial and production standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead newsroom output: Carry out senior editorial roles (including but not limited to Late News Chief Producer, Supervising Producer, Output Producer) as part of the roster, ensuring bulletins meet SBS’s editorial remit.
  • Produce high‑quality bulletins: Shape story balance, write and sub‑edit scripts, and craft compelling intros, teases and promos that retain audiences.
  • Oversee breaking news: Supervise live coverage, updates and edits for delayed markets, collaborating with external providers when required.
  • Drive visual storytelling : Work with design, production, camera and craft editing teams to deliver accurate, innovative and engaging graphics and packages.
  • Deliver multiplatform content:  Produce researched scripts, assemble WIPs, and oversee timely digital publishing aligned with SBS editorial standards when required.

About You

You are an experienced journalist with a passion for international and national news, and a deep understanding of stories that resonate with Australia’s diverse communities. You thrive under pressure, bring strong editorial judgement, and lead with SBS’s values at the core of your approach. You’re collaborative, organised, adaptable and committed to lifting the capability of those around you.

You will bring:

  • Experience supervising news output, providing constructive feedback and upholding SBS’s values and editorial guidelines.
  • Advanced ability to write, subedit and produce TV news scripts with accuracy, clarity and strong news sense.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, manage breaking news and maintain high production standards with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working across newsroom systems, graphics workflows, editing processes and evolving production technologies.
  • Able to work a seven-day shift roster, engage openly with colleagues across SBS, and contribute to a positive, inclusive newsroom culture.
